There are many categories to choose from when it comes to science projects; Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering, Environmental, Microbiology, Physical Science, and Mathematics. If you start by choosing a category that interests you, it should help you to choose a topic to work with. Even if you choose a topic that interests you it could still fall under various categories, so it's best to pick a category that you want to work with first, and then think of a topic you'd like to do a project on, under that category. Or, if you already have a topic in mind you could write down the different categories your topic falls under and choose which one interests you more.
Once you have a project in mind you can gather your materials, conduct you experiment, make notes on your findings, then write up your report and make an eye catching display with all the information you found out from your experiment. Make sure you fully understand your project so you're prepared to present it to the judge if you're entering your project in a science fair. If you're doing it as a leisure project you can still write up a report and even a display to wow your friends and family.
